چکیده

Fluorescence photobleaching was measured in dye-impregnated sol–gel/polymer composite glasses. These fluorescent glasses were used as the gain medium in a transverse-pumped solid-state dye laser. In this configuration, the fluorescent glass was excited by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser (about 6 mJ/pulse) either while placed in an optical cavity (i.e., functioning as a pulsed laser) or with the optical cavity blocked, so that lasing did not occur. The decay of the fluorescence signal versus cumulative excitation energy was recorded. We found that the rate of photobleaching decreased when the glass was lasing, as compared to the case where the optical cavity was blocked. This paper presents these results, and suggests a simple kinetic model that may explain this phenomenon. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Confinement of pyridinium hemicyanine dye within an anionic metal-organic framework for two-photon-pumped lasing

Two-photon-pumped dye lasers are very important because of their applications in wavelength up-conversion, optical data storage, biological imaging and photodynamic therapy. Such lasers are very difficult to realize in the solid state because of the aggregation-caused quenching. Here we demonstrate a new two-photon-pumped micro-laser by encapsulating the cationic pyridinium hemicyanine dye into...

Solid-state dye lasers based on polymers incorporating covalently bonded modified rhodamine 6G

We report on the lasing action of modified rhodamine 6G dyes copolymerized with methacrylic monomers. The laser samples were transversely pumped with a N2 laser at 337 nm. Lasing efficiencies similar to those found for rhodamine 6G in ethanol solution have been achieved. Important increases in photostability, with lifetimes in excess of 20 000 shots at 2 Hz, have been obtained. By using a rotat...

Highly photostable solid-state dye lasers based on silicon-modified organic matrices

We report on the synthesis, characterization, and physical properties of modified polymeric matrices incorporating silicon atoms in their structure and doped with laser dyes. When the silicon-modified organic matrices incorporated pyrromethene 567 PM567 and pyrromethene 597 PM597 dyes as actual solid solutions, highly photostable laser operation with reasonable, nonoptimized efficiencies was ob...

Lifetime, Efficiency and Photostability Enhancement of Pyrromethene Laser Dyes by Metallic Ag Nanoparticles

Complexation of metallic silver nano particles (NPs) with Pyrromethene laser dyes (PM567, PM597) has significant effect on lifetime, photostability and the fluorescence efficiency. These enhancement of optical properties of the complex in solution due to surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) have been promised higher efficiencies in case of [40% Ag NPs: PM dye] complexes for dye laser systems. The fl...

Alkoxy-substituted difluoroboron benzoylmethanes for photonics applications: a photophysical and spectroscopic study.

Two series of novel boron difluoride adducts (BDFs), namely [BF(2)(OO(R(n)))] (type I) and [BF(2)(OO(2R(n)))] (type II) (R = C(6)H(4)OC(n)H(2n+1); n = 10-18), containing β-diketonate ligands bearing 4-alkoxyphenyl substituents in position 1 or in positions 1,3 of the β-diketonate core, respectively, have been prepared. All of them display a strong interaction between the ligand and the BF(2) gr...
